Mag. Martin Ehrenhauser, MBA, was born on September 18, 1978. He is married and is a father of two children. Ehrenhauser began a cook apprenticeship in Linz at the age of 15. After many years of gaining experience in Austria, Malaysia and the USA, he completed his degrees in economics at the University of Linz and political science at the Universities of Innsbruck and Loughborough, England through second-chance education.


As a student he completed tourist internships in Berlin (Austria Advertisement / Österreich Werbung) and Beirut (Austria Centre) and was politically active as a federal mandatary of Austrian students.


Ehrenhauser worked at the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasburg as the assistant and head of the office staff of the independent EU MEP, the former “Spiegel” journalist and bestseller author Dr. Hans Peter Martin. He is the author of a number of articles on the topic of the European Security and Defence Policy and democracy. Ehrenhauser also contributed to several publications by Dr. Hans-Peter Martin, including the number one bestseller in Austria “Die Europafalle” (Piper publishing house) and the essay “Lass uns eine kühne Demokratie wagen“ ( “Let us attempt a bold democracy” ) in Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.


In October 2007, long before the big protests in Austria, he was among the pioneers to organise a “democracy tent” at Bellhausplatz in Vienna together with Hans Peter Martin. The aim of the event with more than 2000 participants within one week was a referendum on the Lisbon treaty. During the press conference the then longest-serving EU    MEP – Danish Jen-Peter-Bonde was among the guests.


As a candidate for the List Martin he actively took part in the organisation of the campaign for the elections of the European Parliament in June 7, 2009. The List Martin achieved significant international success with 509.092 votes (17.7 percent). Since 14. July 2009 Martin Ehrenhauser is an independent MEP at the European Parliament and a member of the Budgetary Control Committee as well as the Subcommittee on Security and Defence Policy.
